Over 400 Attendees at the Inaugural MWM Summit & Gala Celebrating the Mentoring Movement
Big News! Million Women Mentors just shy of half a million pledges to mentor (see more below).
One week has passed since our Inaugural MWM Summit & Gala and we are so proud to celebrate the great achievements of our friends, partners and sponsors. Engaging testimonials from student mentees on the power of mentorship preceded amazing keynotes from Tara Russell (President, fathom, Carnival Corp & plc) and Michelle K. Lee (Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office) reasserted the importance of mentoring women in STEM fields and the potential for growth. Success stories from the MWM Leadership Council, esteemed Partners and State teams continued to highlight best practices of mentorship through corporate and nonprofit channels. Special shout out to Sodexo, Carnival Corp & plc, Deloitte, and Sony for sponsoring the Summit along with the MWM Vice Chairs: BP, Cisco, PepsiCo, Tata Consultancy Services, and Apollo Education Group.
We heard from so many passionate and driven speakers throughout the entire event and announced nearly half a million pledges to mentor girls and women interested in STEM education and careers.
Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds (Iowa), Tennessee Senate Speaker Pro Tempore Bo Watson on behalf of Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey (Tennessee), and Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann (Indiana) (from left to right) shared remarks on their mentoring initiatives on the state-level.
